Venezuela Plans!!!!

For all those who would like to know where I will be, and follow my journey through the Latin American jungle, here is my tenative trip itinerary! I hope to be able to log in occasionally when I’m down there to let you all know where I’ve been and maybe even upload some pictures when I get a chance!!!!

June 28th: Fly in to Caracas and find a place to stay the night

July 3rd: My class begins. We will spend two weeks in semi civilization, during which time I’m pretty sure I’ll have some internet access, learning about the principles of biodiversity and I don’t even know what all else, but it will be very interesting and very good for my knowledge of spanish!!

July 17th: We head out into the cloud forest to begin the field portion of the class, surveying the populations of butterflies and dung beetles. I don’t really know anything about either of these, but I’m sure I’ll learn fast! I think we will be setting up traps and trying to determine an accurate impression of the exact number of species of each that exists in this region. The point of that is that, once we know the ammount of biodiversity currently present, future scientists will be better able to see how fast species are going extinct and will have a better idea of what to look for. This is just the first year of this program being implimented in Venezuela, so it should be really interesting to see what we find!

September 2nd (ish): Who knows!!!!!!!!
