I spent most of this morning on monotonous, difficult, and tiresome tasks. Added to that I wasn’t very enthusiastic about working today anyways… I am much more in the mood to curl up with a book today. Then about half-way through the morning, when I was feeling totally miserable and sorry for myself, I realized that I’ve been working here now for over a week and today is literally the FIRST time I have actually not wanted to be doing the work. I mean, this is my job after all… you’re not even supposed to enjoy work every day…
My pheobees fledged out of my cabin yesterday. I was so lucky to actually see them leaving. When I came up to the cabin in the afternoon the momma was especially loud scolding me from the phone lines, and when I came up to the cabin door I could hear the fluttering of a few birds inside. As far as I could tell there were two bungling around the cabin– they were pretty scared when I came in. One managed to fly out the door but the other flew to the window and hung precariously from the screen for a second before flopping wings-open terrified at my feet! It stared at me for about 10 seconds before it managed to fly out the door and they were both gone. I hope I didn’t scare them out before they were ready! Good thing is…. I can start moving in!!
Overall, everything is going great. We have been doing a lot of planting and weeding, and we’re already harvesting lots of salad greens, radishes, carrots, brocolli…. Strawberries!… and lots of other yummy stuff!
