Woo hoo I have a future!

I have officially been accepted, and confirmed… AND even bought AIRLINE tickets (!!!!) for a job this fall! Well, I use the term job loosely.

I am going to St. Eustatius which is an island in the dutch antilles which is kinda near the Virgen Islands and Puerto Rico to work as a botanical garden intern. So I will be helping to care for the existing gardens (weeding, trimming, watering, etc) as well as helping to plan out some new gardens that they are putting in: a children’s garden and a fruit garden, so lots of digging and transplanting etc etc. I’m living in a house with a few other interns and sharing the kitchen and bathroom and all with some volunteers who sleep out on the front lawn. The island is only about 8 square miles and has a population of 3000 ish, mostly I think in one town across the volcano from where I am staying. Oh yeah, there’s a dormant volcano in the middle of the island. So yeah, that’s my plan for the next while. I start mid-October and am working till about mid-May. Yippie having a plan!

Until October I will be slowly traveling southwardly with all my worldly possession in my car selling them in a communistic way (for free) to anyone who wants them, and then hanging for a while in Chicago. If you will be in between Burdickville and Chicago (ann arbor, alma, lansing, detroit, etc) and would like to see me, let me know when and where and I will try to be there….. in fact, here is an itemized schedual of Janetian events….
